This Cookie Policy explains how Shout Network Limited ("Shout", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites.

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we collect and use personal information.

This policy applies to websites operated by Shout Network Limited, including websites used in connection with Shout Network, Shout Expo, Shout Connect, Connect HQ and our other services.

Cookies are small text files which are stored on your computer, smartphone, tablet or other device when you visit a website.

Cookies can perform a variety of functions. For example, they can:

• enable a website to operate correctly;
• remember choices or preferences;
• help keep a website secure;
• understand how visitors use a website;
• measure the effectiveness of advertising;
• help identify technical problems; and
• support relevant advertising and marketing.

Some cookies are placed directly by us. These are generally known as first-party cookies.

Others may be placed by third-party services used on our website. These are generally known as third-party cookies.

Cookies may also be:

Session cookies – which normally expire when you close your browser; or

Persistent cookies – which remain on your device for a specified period or until they are deleted.

We use the term "cookies" in this policy for convenience, but websites can also use similar technologies including pixels, tags, local storage and other identifiers.

These technologies may be used for similar purposes, including analytics, functionality, advertising and measuring whether somebody has completed a particular action after seeing or clicking an advertisement.

Where the law requires consent for these technologies, we treat them in the same way as non-essential cookies.

The cookies and similar technologies used on our website generally fall into the following categories.

These cookies are required for the website or a service requested by you to function properly.

They may be used for purposes including:

• website security;
• maintaining sessions;
• remembering your cookie choices;
• enabling forms or essential website functionality;
• fraud prevention;
• load balancing; and
• providing services you have specifically requested.

Because these technologies are necessary for the website or requested service to operate, consent is not normally required.

You may be able to block these cookies through your browser settings, but doing so may cause parts of the website to stop functioning correctly.

Functional cookies help provide additional website features and remember choices you make.

Depending upon the technologies currently enabled on our website, these may be used to remember preferences or support enhanced functionality provided by us or a third party.

Where these cookies are not strictly necessary, we will obtain consent where required before using them.

We may use analytics technologies to understand how visitors use our websites.

These technologies can help us understand matters such as:

• how many people visit our website;
• which pages are visited;
• how visitors arrive at our website;
• how visitors move around the website;
• which pages or services generate the most interest;
• whether visitors encounter errors;
• the type of device or browser being used; and
• how we can improve the website.

Our analytics services may include Google Analytics and other analytics technologies.

Where consent is legally required for analytics cookies or similar technologies, they will not be activated until the appropriate consent has been obtained.

We may use advertising and marketing technologies to:

• measure the effectiveness of our advertising;
• understand whether somebody visited our website after interacting with an advertisement;
• record conversions such as enquiries or other relevant actions;
• help us understand the performance of marketing campaigns;
• build audiences for advertising where permitted;
• limit repeated advertising; and
• help make advertising more relevant.

Depending upon the services we use at the relevant time, these technologies may be provided by organisations including:

• Google, including Google Ads;
• Meta, including Facebook and Instagram advertising technologies;
• LinkedIn; and
• other advertising or marketing platforms.

Advertising cookies and similar technologies are not essential to the basic operation of our website.

Where required by law, we will obtain your consent before activating them.

We may use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors interact with our website.

Google Analytics may collect information about your use of the website, which can include information about your device, browser, interactions, approximate location and pages visited.

We use this information to analyse website performance, understand visitor behaviour and improve our services and marketing.

Where the use of Google Analytics requires consent, analytics storage will only be enabled after you have provided the relevant consent through our cookie controls.

Further information about Google's handling of information is available through Google's own privacy information.

We use or may use Google Ads technologies to advertise Shout services and understand how our advertising performs.

For example, conversion measurement can help us understand whether someone who interacted with an advertisement subsequently:

• submitted an enquiry;
• clicked to call us;
• clicked an email link;
• registered for an event;
• made a booking; or
• completed another action which we have designated as a conversion.

This helps us understand which advertising campaigns are effective.

Google advertising technologies may also be used for remarketing or audience functions where these have been enabled and the necessary consent has been obtained.

Advertising cookies and storage requiring consent will not be enabled unless you have provided the relevant permission through our cookie controls.

Our website may use Google Consent Mode or similar technology to communicate your cookie choices to Google services.

This helps Google services adjust their behaviour based upon the choices you make through our cookie banner.

Depending upon our configuration, when you do not consent to advertising or analytics storage, Google tags may operate in a restricted or consent-denied mode.

The use of Consent Mode does not replace your right to choose whether non-essential cookies and storage requiring consent are enabled.

We may use technologies provided by Meta, the operator of Facebook and Instagram, to help measure advertising effectiveness and understand actions taken following interaction with our advertising.

Where enabled, these technologies may include the Meta Pixel or related measurement tools.

Where consent is required, these technologies will only be activated after you have made the relevant choice through our cookie controls.

Meta processes information in accordance with its own privacy policies and terms.

As a business-to-business organisation, we may use technologies provided by LinkedIn to measure advertising campaigns, understand website activity connected with LinkedIn campaigns and support relevant business advertising.

Where these technologies require consent, they will only be enabled after the relevant consent has been provided.

LinkedIn processes information in accordance with its own privacy policies and terms.

Our website may contain functionality or content supplied by third parties.

This may include:

• videos;
• maps;
• social media content;
• event registration tools;
• enquiry forms;
• payment services;
• booking systems; and
• other embedded services.

These providers may use cookies or similar technologies when their content or service is loaded.

Where such technologies are not strictly necessary, they will be subject to the appropriate consent requirements.

Third-party providers are responsible for their own processing of personal information where they act as independent controllers.

We recommend reviewing the relevant provider's privacy and cookie information if you use its services.

Some Shout events may be registered for through external platforms such as Eventbrite.

When you follow a link from our website to an external booking or registration service, that website may set its own cookies.

Those cookies are controlled by the operator of the external website and are subject to its own cookie and privacy policies.

Your choices on the Shout website do not necessarily control cookies placed when you subsequently visit an independent third-party website.

Our website may use third-party technology to provide enquiry, registration or other forms.

These services may use technologies which are necessary to operate the form, maintain security or prevent abuse.

They may also use other technologies subject to the choices available to you and applicable legal requirements.

Further information may be available from the relevant form provider.

When you first visit our website, you may be presented with cookie controls which allow you to make choices about non-essential cookies.

Depending upon the technologies currently in use, these controls may allow you to:

• Accept all non-essential cookies;
• Reject all non-essential cookies; or
• choose particular categories of cookies.

Strictly necessary cookies cannot normally be disabled through our consent tool because they are required for the website or services requested by you to operate.

We will not treat continued browsing, scrolling or general use of the website as consent to non-essential cookies where affirmative consent is required.

You can change your mind about non-essential cookies.

Where our website provides a Cookie Settings, Manage Cookies or similar control, you can use it to review and change your choices.

Withdrawing consent will not make any processing which lawfully occurred before withdrawal unlawful.

Cookies already stored on your device may remain until they expire or are deleted. You can remove existing cookies through your browser settings.

Most internet browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings.

Depending upon your browser, you may be able to:

• view cookies stored on your device;
• delete individual cookies;
• delete all cookies;
• block cookies;
• block third-party cookies; or
• configure how websites are permitted to use cookies.

Blocking all cookies may prevent some parts of our website and other websites from functioning correctly.

Instructions vary between browsers, so please refer to the help or privacy settings provided by your browser provider.

Different cookies remain on your device for different periods.

Some cookies expire when you close your browser.

Others may remain for a specified period so that the website or relevant service can recognise your device on a future visit.

The specific duration depends upon the particular cookie and the provider responsible for it.

Where our website's cookie consent platform provides a detailed cookie list, that list should be used for the most current information about individual cookies and their duration.

The technologies used by our website may change as we develop our website, advertising and services.

For that reason, the most accurate current list of individual cookies, providers, purposes and durations may be displayed through the cookie consent or Cookie Settings tool available on our website.

We periodically review the cookies and similar technologies used on our website and update our controls and this policy where appropriate.

Some information collected through cookies or similar technologies may constitute personal data under UK data protection law.

Where this happens, our processing of that information is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

Our Privacy Policy explains:

• who is responsible for your personal information;
• our purposes and lawful bases for processing;
• who information may be shared with;
• international transfers;
• retention;
• your data protection rights; and
• how to contact us or make a complaint.

Some third-party technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, the relevant protections described in our Privacy Policy apply.

Third-party providers may also operate their own international data processing arrangements in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time.

This may happen where:

• we change the technologies used on our website;
• we introduce new services;
• a third-party provider changes its technology;
• our advertising or analytics arrangements change; or
• applicable legal or regulatory requirements change.

The latest version will be published on our website and the date at the top of this policy will be updated.
